Halloween Handprints

While perusing Pinterest I saw some pictures of Halloween handprint crafts and I knew instantly I wanted to make them with the kids. It was quick, easy to do, the kids LOVED it and it looks adorable hanging up. It’s a win, win, win, win! I headed to Michaels and grabbed our supplies!

Supplies needed:

Canvas (I used 8×10)

Foam paintbrush

Acrylic paint

Ribbon

I decided to get a 10 pack of canvases because I had a 40% off coupon (yay!) and I have a feeling we are going to be doing a lot of crafts like this.

I set everything up and we got to work!

12166118_10205538137196293_1467071512_n

I had Ashley paint the background of all the canvases and she was so excited. She also did such a good job!

I used Ashley’s hand and both of the boys’ feet. I strapped the boys in the high chair that way they couldn’t squirm away from me and I was able to paint their feet, place it on the canvas and wash it off all very quickly. It worked out perfectly. After we were done and the canvases were dry, I cut some ribbon and used my husbands staple gun to attach the canvases to the ribbon.

I am thrilled with how the project turned out. It was just how I imagined it and I’m sure it’s going to be something I treasure forever!

Twin Tuesday

I cannot believe the boys are 14-months-old! It seems like I blinked and their first year was over! They are the cutest, happiest, most curious little boys and I cannot get enough of them. They both throw up their arms when asked how big they are, shake their heads no, and wave bye bye. They both say “duck, cat, and bye” (along with the normal Mama and Dada) and are both now walking! Adam started to walk about 2 weeks before Collin but he caught up quickly! Adam is a little more steady but Collin is getting better day by day. Their personalities are so different and it’s amazing to watch them grow and learn. Adam is my little daredevil and takes off as soon as he can, while Collin likes to hang back by Mommy until he’s a little more sure of himself. That’s fine by me, I’ll take baby snuggles for as long as I can get them. I can’t wait for the boys’ second set of holidays which are fast approaching. They are going to be so fun. Here are a few of our favorite things this month!
14 Month Favorites
1. Earth’s Best Chicken Nuggets- We have these for lunch A LOT. They are so easy and quick to make and the boys gobble them up. I also cut up cheese and strawberries or blueberries with them which makes for a nice healthy lunch that tastes great too. Even Ashley likes them, so these are a staple that I keep in the freezer at all times.
2. Rubber Duck- Duck is one of the few words the boys say and they learned from playing with this classic toy! Bath time wouldn’t be the same without it and as soon as the boys get in the tub they are reaching for this little guy!
3. Fisher Price Laugh and Learn House– They really love this toy. They actually play together with this, which I love to see. They practically fall over from laughing so hard at each other while swinging the door back and forth. I could watch them for hours.
4. Mickey Flip Sofa– Ashley had one of these when she was a baby so I figured I would get 2 for Adam and Collin. They LOVE them. They pull out to be like a little bed so It’s a nice comfy spot to recharge while playing and when they are ready they hop up and we flip it back to the couch. They sit on the couch part like little men with their arms on the arm rest. It might be the most adorable thing ever.
5. GoGo Squeez applesauce- These are healthy and so easy to toss in the diaper bag for an easy on-the-go snack. We love them.
6. Ikea Lillabo Toy Cars– In the morning when Adam wakes up these are the first toys he goes for. They are colorful and easy for little hands to pick up. The boys play with these literally all day!
7. Burts Bees Shampoo and Wash– Both Adam and Collin have slight eczema and sensitive skin. I can’t begin to list how many different baby washes we have tried. Burts Bees is the only one that doesn’t over dry or irritate their skin. It smells delicious and it’s almost all natural. They have gained a customer for life!
8. Fisher Price Laugh and Learn Chair– The boys love anything that makes noise or plays music. This chair is so fun and has a sensor and can tell when a baby is sitting in the chair. It plays such cute music and also says letters and numbers. Today Collin sat in the chair and Adam wanted to play too so he plopped right down in Collin’s lap. My heart burst into about a billion pieces. This toy gets a thumbs up from all of us!

Fall Fun

The fall is by far my favorite season, and weekends filled with fun fall activities is something I look forward to all year long. This weekend was jam packed with all of my favorite autumn activities. On Saturday I woke up and made special Mickey shaped pancakes for the kids. Ashley loves when I make them and has so much fun eating them.

IMG_0389 IMG_0391

Since the boys can’t have syrup yet (I can’t wrap my head around that mess yet haha) I decided to add some strawberries to their pancakes for some sweetness. They LOVED them and gobbled them up quicker than I could cut them! I’d say our Saturday morning breakfast was a success.

IMG_0392 IMG_0395

After breakfast we played, relaxed and got Ashley ready for soccer. She really enjoys playing and I can really see an improvement in just the few short weeks she’s been going. Plus it gets her out of the house and running around in the beautiful weather, which is a huge win in my book!

On Saturday night we had Halloween Movie night complete with popcorn in pumpkin buckets. Ashley loved the whole idea of it and was unable to contain her excitement as she jumped around the living room. We all changed into jammies and put on “It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown” and snuggled on the couch. Ash fell asleep in my lap and I couldn’t help but want to press pause in that very second of our lives. I knew that exact moment would be one I would want to cherish forever. It was such a great day.

IMG_0412

On Sunday there was a street festival within walking distance of our house. I seriously love street fairs and go to every single one I possibly can. The fact that I didn’t even have to look for parking for this one made it that much better! It was a lot of fun. They had lots of vendors, food, classic cars and some activities for the kids. It wasn’t huge, but that was fine because it was pretty cold and I could tell the boys wouldn’t last long. We walked the length of it, got some chicken gyros and fried oreos (YUM) and headed back to the house to eat.

IMG_0441

Getting ready to go! Poor Collin was asleep.

After lunch we headed to the Pumpkin Festival! We go every year and it’s just so much fun. They have animals, games, rides, festival food and of course pumpkins!

IMG_0445 IMG_0448 IMG_0454

IMG_0459 IMG_0463

I love the ‘How tall this Fall” sign. We have a picture of Ashley each year in front of it and it’s so fun to look back on the older pictures and see how much she has grown. Now we have the boys for it! They are still a little unsteady on their feet so we didn’t take them out of the stroller, but they are in front of the sign and that’s what matters!

IMG_0547         IMG_0472 IMG_0470

The animals they have are just so fun to see. The Mommy pig with her babies was adorable and the boys loved the little piglets. The cow was a baby and was so sweet!

IMG_0544

Ashley loved this and even hit the bell!

IMG_0551IMG_0479

Ashley got to milk a pretend cow and run around in a kid size “spiderweb!”

IMG_0503IMG_0508IMG_0520

We headed over to a “kiddie pumpkin patch” that had all little pumpkins scattered around and decided to let the boys explore a little bit. They LOVED it and had so much fun grabbing for the pumpkins. We loved watching them. It was the cutest thing.

IMG_0524

Then it was time for the big patch! We grabbed some cotton candy and kettle corn and hopped on the hay ride!

IMG_0582

It was insanely cold so we were all bundled up!

IMG_0589

We found our pumpkin! It was a picture perfect day and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

Adam & Collin Turn One!

Let me start off by saying I LOVE parties. I love brainstorming a theme, I love coming up with a menu, I love executing my plans and I love celebrating. Before the boys were even born I knew what I wanted the theme of their first birthday to be: Toy Story Carnival. I’m a Disney addict and I just adore Toy Story. I felt it was a perfect boy theme. One of my favorite things to do in the Summer is go to carnivals, and the fact that the boys were born in the Summer made it a no-brainer to add the carnival to it! I also had some inspiration from the Toy Story Midway Mania ride in Disney World. We had SO much fun at this party and I had an even better time planning it. It was a perfect first birthday and I couldn’t have been happier about how it turned out!

Invite

Here are the invitations! I had a vision in my head how I wanted them and my friend Kelli couldn’t have made a more perfect invite. My Mom had gotten the boys Woody and Buzz jammies for Christmas and I thought they were perfect for an invite picture!

For the centerpieces on each table I cut out the characters on card stock and hot glued them to very thin wooden dowels. I stuck the dowels into floral foam. I got the red and green containers from party city for .99 cents! I was so excited when I found them because they were perfect for what I was imagining. We had three Woody centerpieces and three Buzz ones.

IMG_9526 IMG_9525

I knew I wanted to have a place for people to take photos, so I decided to make a big Etch a Sketch photo prop and a blue sky with clouds background. It was a hit!

IMG_4505 IMG_9537 IMG_4506 IMG_9532

IMG_4450

I searched Pinterest and found a blog called Purple Patch Parties that actually had a Toy Story Midway Mania party on it. She made carnival games out of cardboard boxes and I just loved the idea. I had my husband go to an appliance warehouse and pick up some large refrigerator boxes for free!! I drew out a plan for him how I wanted the boxes cut out and he did it exactly the way I wanted them!

For the first game we had “Andy’s Room” which was where the kid had to knock down cans with bean bags.

IMG_9519

I made some boxes to look like the ones in Andy’s room from the movie, and they also doubled as something to stand the cans on!

For the next game we had “Army Men Shoot Camp”

IMG_9520

I decorated the inside of the box with camouflage fabric and the kids shot ping pong balls off golf tees with a nerf type gun.

The third game was “Al’s Toy Barn”

IMG_9521

I ordered a farm bean bag toss game from Oriental trading. The kids really loved this one.

Last we had “Hamm and Eggs” I had cups with numbers on the bottom and the kids tossed pretend eggs into the cups.

IMG_9553

Kids lining up to play!

For the games each kid got tickets to use at the prize table, although I had enough prizes for each child to get one of each prize. They loved going to the prize table and being able to “buy” their prizes. To hold their loot I made little green men goodie bags for them.

IMG_9523 IMG_9522

For the prizes we got Toy Story bracelets, mini barrel of monkeys, disguise glasses, lip whistles, parachute army men, Toy Story bubbles, Sheriff badges, Toy Story candy, Toy Story books, and some Toy Story noise makers.

After the games it was time for dessert!

IMG_9603

For the desserts I had a cake made for each of the boys. They were the same decor, just flipped. Adam’s cake had cow print on top and blue with stars on the bottom and Collin’s had blue with stars on the top and cow on the bottom.

IMG_9595 IMG_9600

I absolutely loved the addition of the light up letters in each of the boy’s initials. I think it added such an adorable “carnival” feel to the table.

IMG_9598 IMG_9586

What’s a carnival without popcorn!? These popcorn cupcakes were such a hit and so incredibly easy to make. I took mini marshmallows and snipped the tops into 3 and 4 and stuck them onto the tops of the cupcakes. I sprayed the top with Wilton yellow spray and they were done! I just love how they turned out.

IMG_9590

Little green men marshmallow pops! The kids just adored these!

IMG_9594IMG_9593

We also had some Sheriff badge cookies and chocolate covered pretzels.

I cannot believe my tiny boys are one! This has been a crazy year but we made it! I wouldn’t change it for the world.

New Beginnings

SO many things have changed in these past few months. The twins turned 1, Ashley turned 5, we moved, Ashley was the flower girl in my cousins wedding and she started started Kindergarten, and Adam started to walk! It’s been an absolute whirlwind but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Being a busy Mommy is what I’ve always dreamed of and each night, before I go to sleep, I thank God for giving me this life. For the boys’ birthday we had a super fun Toy Story Midway Mania party complete with carnival games, a prize table, 2 cakes (of course each boy gets their own cake!), and lots of fun. It was a great day and I can’t believe my tiny boys are a year old. For Ashley’s birthday we had an elegant Cinderella party. Ever since we went to Disney World in April and met Cinderella there has been a Cinderella obsession in the Couillou household. Ashley had a great time with her friends and we even had a bounce house and Cinderella come to visit for the party! There was face painting, party games, a Cinderella themed dessert table and of course Ashley was dressed like Cindy herself! It was wonderful. The parties were 2 weeks apart so needless to say I was one tired Momma. Next year I think we will do a combined party to make it a little easier on me and also the guests. I’m going to do separate posts on the parties complete with pictures, and tutorials.

Ashley started kindergarten and she just loves it. It’s only for a few hours a day (which I’m so thankful for, I was not ready for her to be gone all day!), but I think it’s good for her to get out, be with kids her own age (instead of being surrounded by 2 little brothers that just love their sister, but want to take everything from her haha) and really get into the routine of school. My little fashionista loves picking out her outfits to wear each day and sometimes gives me a hard time about it! I really thought I would have a little more time before we argued about clothes, I digress.

Ash on her first day!

It’s fall in New Jersey which is my favorite time of the year. I love the cooler weather, the street fairs, pumpkins, Football and all that good stuff. I really look forward to it each year. I feel like every weekend we have sometime so fun to do as a family and the memories we make are priceless. Since it’s cooler but still warm enough to enjoy the outdoors, we have been taking walks each evening. We point out different animals and flowers, watch the planes overhead and even make a pit stop at a park across the street. The kids love it and so do I. I know these types of things are the things I will miss desperately as my children get older so I’m trying to soak it all in as much as I can.

At the park during one of our evening walks! They LOVE the swings ❤

It feels really good to be back documenting our lives.

Twin Tuesday

The twins turned 11 months old yesterday! 11 months! I cannot believe it. This year has flown by so incredibly fast. They are growing and changing so much day to day. I feel as if I blink, I will miss it! They are crawling everywhere, pulling to stand, starting to cruise the furniture and Collin even started to wave today! I am so blessed to have them and look at them daily and think to myself “how did I get so lucky?” Ashley is an amazing big sister and loves them so much. We had a bit of a rough start and she took a little while to get adjusted to having not one but two brothers and having to assume the role of an older sister. She is a huge help and I don’t know what I would do without her. Today, I’m going to share some of our 11 month favorites!

11month

1. MAM Pacifiers- The boys just love these. Pacifiers are such a tricky thing. We thought the boys hated pacifiers but turns out we just weren’t giving them the ones they wanted. We figured we would give this brand a try and they loved them!

2. Fisher Price Lil’ Zoomers- Anytime the boys are crying or fussy I give them these cars and they calm right down! They love the little colored wheel in the middle and the little faces on the front. They are the perfect size for their chunky little fingers to hold and play with. I keep these in the diaper bag at all times.

3. MAM starter cup- I have exclusively breastfed the boys since birth, but we recently decided to start giving them a sippy cup. These ones are working out great and I figured since they loved the pacifiers so much I might as well give the cup a try. It has a really cute design on the front, they are easy to clean and haven’t leaked yet!

4. Burt’s Bees Diaper Ointment- I cannot say enough great things about this ointment. It works great and it has a really pleasing natural smell to it. My boys have very sensitive skin so I have to be really mindful of everything I use on them. It uses all natural ingredients and is enriched with beeswax as well as vitamin A and E. Love love love!

5. Gerber’s Organic Puffs- We loved these with Ashley and nothing has changed with the twins! They really enjoy being able to feed themselves and the puffs dissolve so fast I don’t have to worry about choking. I bring these everywhere with us.

6 Children’s Place footless pajamas- Since it’s summer now and warmer each night I put the boys in a light cotton pajama. Children’s place always has really great sales which works great for having to buy two of everything! I love the prints they have and the pi’s hold up nicely.

7.Fisher Price Brilliant Basics Xylophone- This is easily the boys’ favorite toy. As soon as I take it out they both make a mad dash to it. They are learning now that if they hit it, it makes a sound and they can’t get enough. It’s light and has rounded edges so I don’t have to worry about them getting hurt. I’m not gonna lie, I like to play with this too! 😉

8. Radio Flyer Grandstand Deluxe 3-in-1 wagon- We cannot get enough of this wagon. I know I talked about it in an earlier post but it is such a staple in our daily life I feel it is worth mentioning again. I use this wagon close to everyday. It has a canopy to shade the boys from the sun and seat belts to strap them in for safety. I put them in it while I push Ash on the swing, or go for walks, or to watch Ashley put on a hula hoop show. I love the change from the stroller and I think they do too. They would sit in this all day if I let them. It’s crafted really well and feels very safe. I can’t wait to use it for fun summer activities like fairs, fireworks and parades!

XOXO- Kelly

Twin Tuesday

For this Twin Tuesday, I thought I would share the twins’ birth story.

On Sunday July 27, 2014 I was just about 37 weeks pregnant and I felt awful. I can’t really explain it, I just felt sick (although I can’t say I was ever feeling really great at that point, being so extremely pregnant with twins in the end of July was pretty much guaranteeing I was always feeling kind of crummy!) All I wanted to do all day was lay down. I could barely eat, barely move, barely walk. It’s safe to say I was pretty miserable and was very ready to have these babies out! My husband was great and doted on me all day; always making sure I had a drink, making sure the air was cool enough, making sure I had enough pillows. I had never gone into labor before (I was induced with my daughter), so I didn’t really know the signs. I had a doctor appointment the next day along with a non stress test at the hospital so I figured we would know what was going on then! I woke up Monday feeling a little better but still very crampy and nauseous. I got ready and went to my NST. While I was there a nurse checked me after I explained to her how I was feeling and I was 2cm dilated! However, 2cm isn’t really anything to get too excited about so she told me I could be in labor but we will have to wait and see. After she checked me things really kicked into high gear. I was cramping badly and felt so sick. I needed to kill some time before my appointment at my doctor’s office so I went to JoAnne fabrics and also to WalMart to pick up some things I needed. It was so hard walking around these stores but I did it and made it to the doctors office. While I was sitting waiting to be called back I all of a sudden broke out into a sweat and I got an extremely sharp pain in the middle of my lower back. It was as if I was being stabbed. I could have started crying right then and there from the pain. That’s the moment I knew. That second I was SURE I was in labor. They called me back and I told the doctor all that was going on, she checked me and I was know 4cm dilated! She smiled, hugged me and said “Congratulations, you’re in labor! Let’s go have those boys!” I was so excited and so nervous at the same time. I thought to myself “This is it! You’re about to have two more children!” That thought hit me like a ton of bricks. It all got so real that I was going to have two tiny babies to care for. I got out of the office and into my car and drove to the hospital. When I walked to the desk to check in I said to the woman “Hi, my name is Kelly and I’m in labor!” She looked like she could have passed out. She said to me “How did you get here? Are you alone?” I told her yes I was alone and that I had driven myself (my husband was working and was on his way to meet me). She asked if I wanted a wheelchair, I told her I was fine and could walk to the labor and delivery unit by myself. I got up there and they hooked me up to the machines and it was go time! Except it wasn’t. Turns out, these tiny boys of mine were very stubborn. I stalled at 6cms. I tried EVERYTHING. I walked. I changed positions. I walked some more. Nothing. My doctor is excellent and knew how badly I wanted a natural delivery and let me wait overnight to see if I progressed some more. 7:00 a.m. rolled around and unfortunately there was no more progress. My doctor advised me he thought the best option at this point was a C-section. I’m not going to lie, there were tears and lots of them. I was so upset, but I wanted what was best for my boys. On July 29th, 2014 at 8:41 in the morning Adam James was born. I heard his little cry and was overjoyed. They held him up but I couldn’t see him over the drape. I panicked and looked to my husbands face for reassurance and he said to me “Kell, he’s perfect.” I had no time to react because at 8:42 Collin Richard was born. I was able to see him, he was so cute and tiny. I was so relieved it was all over and my boys were here!
They took the boys to do their assessment and got me all cleaned up and over to the recovery room. I was waiting for my sweet boys for what seemed to be forever. Finally they brought Collin to me. I bawled when I saw him. He was so perfect. His little nose was no bigger than a tiny jelly bean. He had beautiful deep blue eyes. Talk about love at first sight! I tried to nurse him but he was having trouble breathing so they took him back to the nursery and brought me Adam. Love at first sight again! It was incredible. He looked so different than his brother (which I was so relieved about because I had reoccurring nightmares where I wasn’t able to tell them apart!). He was a little smaller than Collin but not much. He had a full head of the softest hair I had ever felt. His little hands grabbed for me and my heart swelled. I then tried to nurse him but the same thing happened, he was having trouble breathing and they took him too. I was crushed. I couldn’t believe I waited all this time to see them, to hold them, to love them, and then they were gone. I was so mad. None of this was according to plan. I wanted my babies and wanted to get out of that bed and go to them, but at that point I still had some recovering to do and had to just wait it out. That was one of the most awful times in my life.
Finally I was moved over to my room and of course I wanted to see my babies. I said to the nurse I need to see them, and to please get me a wheel chair. She was worried that it was too soon for me to get up and that I wouldn’t be steady enough on my feet. I said to her “Listen, I am going to see my sons, with or without your help”. I think she could tell how serious I was and brought a wheelchair for me. I got into it with no problem and my husband wheeled me over to the special care nursery. Both Adam and Collin were hooked up to CPAP machines due to their lung immaturity, other than that they were doing ok. I spent the rest of the day with them in the nursery. On Wednesday they were both doing ok, but Adam was doing slightly better than Collin. They took off Adam’s CPAP and told me if he continued doing as well as he was he would be able to be discharged into the regular nursery. I was thrilled, but still worried for my little Coll. I went back to my room to pump and get something to eat and while I was there the doctor came in and informed me Collin needed a chest tube. I felt like I got punched in the stomach. I was so worried for him and still couldn’t believe all of this was happening. They inserted the tube, Collin started to improve and Adam continued doing well. On Thursday morning Adam was discharged to the regular nursery. I was SO excited. I kept him with me all day, dressed him in the first little outfit I got for them and snuggled him non stop. I stayed with Collin and made sure he knew his Mommy was there with him. He’s such a little fighter that he ended up pulling out his own chest tube, however they did an X-Ray and it showed his lung had healed and he no longer needed it so a new one did not need to be reinserted. I can’t tell you how many times I thanked God that day.
We were able to stay in the hospital a few more days even thought Adam and I were discharged. The nurses and doctors were so great and knew I wanted to be there for Collin so they kept us for as long as they could. Adam and I were discharged on Sunday August 3rd and home we went, leaving Collin at the hospital. I can’t even begin to explain the emotions I felt. I was SO happy to have Adam home and have him be healthy but I was also so worried about Collin and HATED having to leave him. I know it wasn’t the case but I felt like I was abandoning him. He continued to improve and on Tuesday August 6th he was ready to come home with us. He passed his car seat test with flying colors and was doing perfectly. When we drove out of that hospital with both of our boys and our daughter in the car I felt like a million bucks. I was ecstatic to start our life as a family of five!

Boardwalk Trip

A few weekends ago, one of our best friends invited us to go for a day trip to the boardwalk. Now, let me just say, I LOVE the boardwalk. Ever since I was a little girl it has been one of my most favorite past times of summer. I love the games, the food, the rides, the atmosphere, everything! Having kids and being able to take them is the absolute best. Seeing everything through their eyes and getting to experience it all again with them is incredible.
I had never been to Keansburg, NJ before but my good friend Maria has been going her whole life. Bill had done some work around there and said he thought it would be a fun thing to do with the kids. We had such a great time! It was really family oriented and not too crowded at all which was super nice when having to push around a huge double stroller. They had a ton of rides that were small enough for Ashley to go on and she had a blast. The ride controllers were really nice and since the kids had wristbands they allowed them to go on the rides as many times in a row as they wanted!
Bill LOVES to play boardwalk games and Ashley was so excited that her Daddy won her a frog from the Frog Bog game and quickly named her Lily. She loves it so much and hasn’t put it down since she got it.

Twin Tuesday!

I decided every Tuesday I’m going to do a post about the twins; products I love for them, funny/cute things they do and say, outings we go on, things like that! If nothing else, it will be fun for me to look back on because everyday they are getting bigger and older and I already find myself looking back at newborn pictures of them and missing them as tiny babies! SO, here we go for our first TWIN TUESDAY!

Something that has been a huge lifesaver for us is the Delta 36×36 Play Yard.

For my shower, I put a regular pack and play on the registry. Once we got it, I quickly realized it wasn’t going to work for us. Both babies didn’t fit in it, and it was much too small for them to play in. We returned the pack and play and just by chance we saw this one. I was so excited, it was so big and looked like it would have just enough room. Sure enough, it worked out perfectly. We brought it with us to Disney World and both of the boys had plenty of room to sleep, the mattress was padded enough, and they were able to play together. I can’t say enough great things about this play yard and would recommend any twin Momma to invest in it!

Here are my sweet boys, fast asleep in the Play Yard. My heart melts when I see them like this!
During the day I try to make it a point to get the kids outside at least once.  The babies are 10 1/2 months now and are crawling everywhere. They are so curious and want to explore and see everything, as well as put everything in their mouths! So, just laying out a blanket and relaxing on the grass isn’t really an option for us. We decided to get a Radio Flyer wagon and the boys LOVE it! Ashley loves it as well!
I pull them around the yard, take them for walks, and just enjoy the nice weather. They love sitting at a different angle as opposed to being in the stroller and Ashley really likes being able to hop in and out as she pleases. It has seat backs that fold down to be flatbed wagon or put up like in the picture to be seats. It also has little seat belts which are awesome to keep the kids safe and strapped in. I’m sure we’re going to get a lot of use out of it this summer!
Yesterday, after a stroll around the yard we stopped to play with bubbles. It was the first time the boys had ever seen bubbles and they loved watching them and trying to grab them. It’s so amazing to see the look on their face when they discover something new. It was a great afternoon, one I’m sure I’ll remember forever.

Life, Babies and Back to Blogging!

I’M BACK! It’s been a LONG couple years. Things got away from me, life got in the way and I stopped blogging. I’m making a conscious effort to start again. So, since I last posted a ton has happened. Ashley is now almost five!!! Five!!! Can you believe it? I certainly cannot. She is still such a spunky, happy little girl and brings so much joy to our lives. She loves princesses, dolls, dressing up and of course FROZEN! She will be starting kindergarten in the fall, which we are both not ready for. I’m going to miss my little partner in crime! Thank God we have the whole summer to prepare! In July 2014 we added two new members to our family, our twin boys, Adam and Collin! They are the best little boys anyone could ever ask for. They are a little over 10 months now and they amaze me every single day with how much they are learning, how quick they are growing, and what different little personalities they have. It’s absolutely fascinating to witness and I thank God for giving me the opportunity to be their mommy. Having them has absolutely been a roller coaster. So many times I have heard moms of twins say “the first six months are an absolute blur”. I never really understood what that meant, but let me tell you, that statement is spot on. From the moment they were born we hit the ground running. They were born at 37 weeks and both needed some NICU time. Collin needed a little extra help so he stayed in a little longer. I had to leave the hospital with Adam while Collin stayed an extra two days. Walking out of the hospital without him was quite possibly one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, BUT, when we finally had both boys home the elation I felt was indescribable. Ashley was in preschool and with them being slightly premature, they started getting sick. In September (at 7 weeks) I had Collin in the hospital for a cold, he was fine and the hospital staff probably thought I was insane, but my philosophy was better safe than sorry.  December rolled around and I was so excited for the boys’ first Christmas. We did so many fun Christmas activities; went on the Polar Express, visited Santa, went through the Ice Caverns (an adorable walk through attraction with decorated windows), went to a Frozen Ice Palace in a local mall. It was great and gearing up to be a great holiday. Unfortunately all my plans were dashed when on Christmas Eve Collin spiked a 102º temperature. Adam followed suit and they both ended up going to the hospital on Christmas day and were admitted for pneumonia. We spent the next week there and finally came home New Years Day. It was one of the most trying times in my life. Needless to say, it’s been insane, but I wouldn’t change it for the world.  I stopped working when I had them because going to work while having two tiny babies, breastfeeding them, having a four year old to take care of and sleep at some point in between all that proved to be much too difficult. I do miss my job, but being a stay-at-home mom is by far the best job I’ve ever had and I really, really love it. We are finally getting into a routine (only took me 10 months LOL) but things are honestly getting easier and I feel much more accomplished during my days. I find that getting out, even for something simple like to the food store for milk, really helps me feel like I got at least SOMETHING accomplished. So here we are, just enjoying summer, enjoying the boys being a little older so they can participate in some fun summer activities, and enjoying life. I can’t wait to continue documenting our lives and my thoughts so down the road I can look back on it all. I hope you join me for the ride!
